Poem of the Dead and the Gone
No one appreciates my time
Maybe because I'm too kind
I lost my parents in a flash
I don't know how but I just crashed
I cant do this alone, should have known
I yearn for my mothers touch and just cant handle much
I want my father to shout at me, maybe then it would help me breathe
I want my siblings to scream and shout, only then would it give me a feeling of not falling apart
I want to fall, I want to cry, I want to hope all this to die
I don't want love, I don't want peace all I want is the world to see
I'm not perfect, I'm 16, I'm a boy who works all night
I cant take care of my siblings and act like its fine
I hope it works, I hope we survive,
I don't know how I would face my parents, if the world ever does die
In my novel The Dead and the Gone, Alex is a 16 year old boy who doesn't want anything but everything to go back to normal. For the birds to still sing, for his mother and father to still live, he doesn't want much from this world but just want its to go back to normal. Hes 16 yet taking care of his two younger sisters, not only is that hard but without a older adult to look up to, Alex finds it harder and harder trying to live up to his sisters demands.

Child Soldier- The 4 C's
Connections- The main connection between the video
and the article were Child Soldiers. Ishmael Beah was running from one village
to another, looking for his family members or relatives. The connection between
these both pieces of work would be cruelty and the minds way of maturing. Whatever the eyes see, the mind captures
forever and uses it again in the future. Just how Ishmael saw many kids pick up
guns, he decided he could go it as well. People learn from what the eyes see,
and weather it’s good or bad, it would always stay in the mind.
Challenges: Growing up with all the problems around
is a hard thing; living up to the expectations of people is also hard. If a person’s
family were to be hard on a child at birth, and childhood, they would grow up isolated
and locked up inside in the world. The challenges with child soldier and
teaching children how to kill would be the aspect they are being thought.
Picking up a gun and shooting someone dead at the spot, is not a good thing.
Video games or real life, any sort of Violence should be unaccepted, and considered
dangerous. If a video about two guys fighting could do viral, the argument
about video games being too dangerous should as well.
Concepts: How a child is, depends on the lifestyle
they have adapted, the people they hang out with, the amount of society conscious
are they. Picking up a gun and having the courage to do that is something no
child should be learning before the age of 18, courage should be used in the
right way. Can’t get up on stage and talk, use the courage, won’t go right on
an interview use the courage. We don't need to misuse courage and the knowledge
given to us; we could use it the right way and be able to change some things in
the world.
The Boy in Striped Pajamas
Retell- The boy in Striped Pajamas is about an eight year old boy named Bruno who moves into a new house with his family. Bruno is too curious for his own good and this curiosity gets him to a fence near his new house. On the other side of this fence sits a young boy around Bruno’s own age, Bruno decides to befriend the boy named Shmuel even after discovering his is Jewish. As both boys talk furthermore, secrets are led out, and Shmuel tells Bruno he isn't able to find his father. Bruno being a good friend promises him to help him find Shmuel's father together, but things didn't go as planned. When Bruno sneaks to the other side of the fence, him and Shmuel get lost into the crowd of prisoners who are about to die in the gas chambers. Bruno’s father and family desperately try looking around the neighbourhood hoping to find Bruno, but luck isn't in their hands and nor Bruno’s father or family could reach the gas chambers in time.
Reflect- This movie is based on the theme of childhood innocence. Bruno nor Shmuel had thought they would have died like that, death is something that can’t be changed and it isn't in the hands of us humans. Shmuel didn't know his father had already died yet he took Bruno and went searching for him. And Bruno being the innocent child he is had agreed all in the spite of getting striped pajamas. This movie not only taught me about the innocence of a child but what they would do for one another.
Relate- When Bruno has to move to one community from another, it reminded me of how exactly I had felt and went through. I have moved many places and it’s very hard to get used to one place. When Bruno left goodbye and moved on to his new life, it reminded me of how many times I had to say goodbye to everything and move on.
The fence between these two is not something they can't overcome. I have also learned that friendship would overcome any barrier. No matter how small or big that barrier is, its a little thing when it comes to friendship.
War
I feel like war isn't right, its never the solution to anything. Some people may like war, and fighting for their rights but others are forced into getting separated from their family and on to the battlefield. The battlefield is where life and death meet, its where you either go home injured or your body goes home without any soul. Going onto the battlefield takes a lot of courage, and though not so many people have that, faking it and marching to that battlefield is the only option left. War isn't the solution to anything because there isn't only one solution to a problem, there are many. If there was a problem with people dying, scientists would come up with medicines and experiments to help solve it, but if two countries were to have a drift, war would be the only option. My understanding of war would always stay as one thing, and that would be negativity. I feel like war is too much for one country to handle, and killing other people for your own victory isn't a good thing. War is not right and maybe its time for people to accept that.
The Summary of the Sniper
The
Sniper, a short story by Liam O’Flaherty is based on the struggles for
independence. A republican sniper lay watching on a rooftop of a building
eyeing his enemy; a free states sniper. The sniper watched his every little
move, what his technique was, when he would attack next, and where exactly he
is located. In the dark streets of Dublin, heavy guns and bones cracking are
heard in the silenced air near the Liffey River as the Republicans fight
against the Free Staters. The sniper eyes his enemy carefully and awaits for
him to make the move first. When the sniper realizes he’s going to have to make
the first move he slowly gets out from his hiding spot, where he is able to be
seen by the Free state sniper. When the sniper gets harmed on his forearm and isn't powerful enough to pick up his rifle he has to depend his victory upon
his revolver. With the rifle the sniper was able to shoot from afar but with
the revolver he would have to shoot his enemy from nearby. The sniper tries getting
closer to his rival without being noticed, which was extremely difficult to do
because of the silence in the night, so he sets up a skillful act to ruse his
rival into thinking he has been shot. When the Free State sniper puts his guard
thinking everyone is shot, the Republican sniper shoots with eagerness running
through his veins and shuddered watching the body hit the floor with a thud. As
the sniper was celebrating to himself he felt a sudden curiosity to notice who
he had shot, but what he didn't expect was to see his brothers body lying there
lifeless.
What is
the author's message? Provide evidence from the text and explain your thinking.
The message the author tries to
connect us with is hard to understand in this short story. I personally
think
the authors message is to show us how hard war is and maybe how it has a bad
impact on many people, including soldiers.
We get happiness from electronic
devices, not going to school, staying at home and chilling. It’s
different for
soldiers, they get happiness from killing their enemies, coming out of war
alive, and just surviving.
After reading this short story I noticed you could
be hurting many people around you that could be
related to you one way or
another. Many messages connect to me through this story but it’s hard to grasp
just one.

| The Dead and the Gone |
This picture is related to my book because of the way it is presented to us. No color, no life, no people, that's exactly how my book The Dead and the Gone is like. There isn't much life on earth because of the moon being hit by a rock and causing chaos to happen. Everyone is leaving to safer places whenever they could get a chance, but with the moon being closer to earth there are higher chances of death for everyone, poor or rich. The Dead and the Gone is a book filled with mystery, who knows what would happen next? So far in the book I feel like nothing could save anyone from the world ending, its all in gods hands now.
Slam Poetry
He said he wont yet he did
Hit me again, how could this be a man?
I bared the pain and tried to fight it
I didn't cry when he shouted
It struck me hard, like a lightning bolt
He says hes my brother, but could this mean more
Hes human, alright, I agree but does he have a right to breathe?
